Last week I told you that Forbes.com had found Austin , Texas to have the second best drinking water in the United States . Well, Forbes.com has found Austin to be in the top ten again in a completely different category.
The City of Austin has proven to be one of the strongest to withstand a downward economic cycle. On April 29th, Forbes.com issued a report on America’s Most Recession Proof Cities. Austin, Texas was rated #3 out of the top 10 cities. The report was based on the 50 largest metropolitan statistical areas’ housing market, job growth and unemployment figures among other considerations. The Austin-San Marcos metropolitan statistical area rates #48 in the nation among the top 50 according to Federal Communication Commission.
Austin boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. Even better news is that unemployment in the Austin area has dropped from 3.8% to 3.6%. Job growth is predicated to continue.
Austin also boasts some of the most affordable housing in America . Our housing market is steady with a slight increase in values.
There is good reason to live in the Austin area; with every type of housing and lifestyle available More importantly, there are the jobs to support a respectable lifestyle with a reasonable cost of living.
If you live in Austin , then count yourself lucky. If you do not live in Austin , maybe you should consider relocating to one of the finest, coolest, strongest cities in the good ole US of A!
